Efficient surface machining

The surface of the steels after hot forming and heat treatment has a more or less thick oxide layer that does not have the metallurgical or mechanical-technological properties of the base material.

The larger the dimensions, the thicker the layer. This results in considerable, unproductive weight on the surface. We have high-performance systems that save you the trouble of removing the rolling or forging skin and provide you with products that are easy on your tools and machining resources.

Our steel bars are offered in the following processing stages:

  • Peeled
  • Turned
  • Polished
  • Milled on four or six sides (square or flat dimensions)

Another advantage is the more precise ultrasonic and surface crack testing of the machined products. The connection of the most modern automatic testing equipment  to the peeling units enables defects to be detected with maximum accuracy and gives you the certainty of receiving products of the highest quality.

Sawing to fixed or short lengths, drilling of bars up to a drilling diameter of 200 mm and the processing of rotationally symmetrical moulded parts round off the processing spectrum of Swiss Steel Group.
