Unleashing digital possibilities

Comprehensive perspective on digitalization within Swiss Steel Group.

Digitalization is a driving force enabling more efficient production processes and enhanced quality control. It revolutionizes how we produce and advance steel.

Swiss Steel Group relies on data warehouses to comprehensively monitor material quality throughout the entire processing process. Additionally, we are exploring new approaches to scrap sourcing through strategic partnerships, supported by digital technologies.

Quality is produced – not inspected

Nevertheless, producing high-quality steels requires testing, not least to assure both us and the customer of flawless and specification-compliant products.

At our production sites, we use automated systems for many standard tests, such as operational ultrasonic and surface crack detection. These systems deliver highly accurate and reproducible results, also providing reliable data during the evaluation of test outcomes.

Our chemical laboratories monitor the melting process almost simultaneously – this constant supervision leads to increasingly precise and therefore more reproducible products. The testing laboratories are equipped with automated sample preparation and digitized testing machines, staying at the cutting edge of technology.

100 years – that is the lifetime expected for the new section of the K2b cantonal highway between Vitznau and Gersau following its renovation and modernization. This is made possible in no small part by the Top12 special stainless steel from the Swiss Steel Group, from which the anchors for the retaining wall structure and support elements are manufactured. Over a hundred of these were drilled several meters deep into the steep rock face. They secure the walls and beams that support the new, 350-meter-long section of road. The structure is spectacular not only from a geotechnical perspective but also for everyone who drives over it and enjoys a breathtaking view of Lake Lucerne below.
