Swiss Steel Group for a sustainable future.

Our Green Steel is based on circular economy, on energy sources with low CO2 content and is produced using the electric steel process.

  • ~83% lower CO2 footprint
  • ~80% decarbonized electricity in the steel mill
  • ~2 mn t recycled scrap per year

Excellent machining properties

What sets our austenitic steels apart is their incredible ductility, which makes them resistant even under extreme cryogenic conditions. In addition, they are completely non-magnetic in the annealed state, which guarantees uncompromising stability and reliability. For optimum machinability, we have enriched our austenitic stainless steels with carefully dosed sulphur additives that enable easy handling during machining.

Alloy composition

Over 65% of the stainless steels used worldwide are austenitic stainless steels, making them the most significant group in this area. These low-carbon alloys typically contain a generous proportion of at least 7% nickel, along with carefully selected additives to stabilize the austenitic structure.

Acidur 4529

For fastening solutions in chloride-containing and aggressive media

Fire hazard, dynamic loads and aggressive environmental media: the difficult conditions in tunnel construction place high demands on building materials, especially steel. It plays a key role in fastening elements, for example. With Acidur 4529, Swiss Steel Group offers the right steel solution for such complex applications. Thanks to its good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance, super austenite is a reliable and durable material - and not just for tunnel construction.

The materials used in road construction and particularly in tunnel construction must be able to withstand particularly difficult conditions with good corrosion properties. Chlorides from de-icing agents and a high sulphur dioxide content from car exhaust fumes attack tunnel structures. There are high dynamic loads that promote stress corrosion cracking. With Acidur 4529, Swiss Steel Group perfectly covers such requirements in building construction and civil engineering.

High molybdenum content for improved resistance

Thanks to its alloy composition, the stainless super austenitic steel is highly resistant to numerous organic and inorganic acids. It is significantly more corrosion-resistant than conventional chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel. In addition, the high molybdenum content offers improved resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking. Compared to standard austenite, Acidur 4529 has a higher tensile strength of at least 800 MPa, which can be specifically adjusted by additional cold processing of the raw material.

Stainless steels for many applications in the construction industry

Due to their special chemical composition, Acidur steels are suitable for all applications in which media containing halogens or chlorides must be tolerated: in swimming pool construction, in the chemical industry or in seawater and brackish water applications.
