Scrap surcharges are applied due to fluctuating prices of scrap metals. They reflect the costs of procuring and processing scrap materials. The exact surcharges may vary depending on market trends. Scrap surcharges are regularly adjusted to align with current market prices.

Alloy surcharges are additional charges applied to the base price, reflecting the costs associated with using alloys in the product. Alloy surcharges are calculated based on current raw material prices and market trends, and are regularly updated.

Energy surcharges are calculated based on energy prices and consumption. We are continuously striving to optimize our energy consumption to minimize the impact on surcharges while promoting more environmentally friendly production methods.

The world's first electric forge

Swiss Steel Group is driving forward the modernization and decarbonization of its plants with great emphasis. The most recent example is the conversion of a forging furnace at Finkl Steel-Sorel Québec from fossil fuels to electric power. Heating the furnace with green electricity not only reduces the carbon footprint but also brings numerous other benefits to the process and to the people working at the plant.

This is the highest award given by the internationally renowned plat-form for sustainability assessments. In addition, the international steel producers exemplary commitment to sustainability has been confirmed by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP): In addition to receiving the top overall rating of A, Swiss Steel Group also received an A rating for supplier management.
