Bearing steels

Bearing steels are alloyed, through-hardening engineering steels based on the analysis of the traditional rolling bearing steel 100Cr6. This steel is characterized by a high martensitic hardness and, together with chromium carbides, this steel counteracts wear caused by abrasion.

Höhere Anforderungen und größere Dimensionen haben zu zahlreichen Modifikationen der Grundgüte 100Cr6 geführt, abhängig von der gewünschten Abmessung mit höherem oder niedrigerem Chromgehalt. Legierungselemente, wie Mangan und Molybdän, erhöhen die Durchhärtbarkeit des Stahls und werden für größere Härtequerschnitte verwendet. Die gängigsten Wälzlagerstähle sind in der DIN EN ISO 683-17 genormt.

Basierend auf dem traditionellen Stahl 100Cr6 (SAE51000) dienen analytische Veränderungen, z.B. für höhere Wandstärken, zu gleichbleibender Zuverlässigkeit im Überrollverhalten.
