Bearing steels

Bearing steels are alloyed, through-hardening engineering steels based on the analysis of the traditional rolling bearing steel 100Cr6. This steel is characterized by a high martensitic hardness and, together with chromium carbides, this steel counteracts wear caused by abrasion.

For higher requirements and larger dimensions

Higher requirements and larger dimensions have led to numerous modifications of the basic grade 100Cr6, depending on the desired dimension with a higher or lower chromium content. Alloying elements such as manganese and molybdenum increase the hardenability of the steel and are used for larger hardness cross-sections. The most common bearing steels are standardized in DIN EN ISO 683-17.

Based on the traditional steel 100Cr6 (SAE51000), analytical modifications, e.g. for higher wall thicknesses, serve to ensure consistent reliability in rolling behavior.

Climate-neutral steel production

With our Green Steel, we are taking an important step towards climate-neutral steel production. Scrap steel is used as the main raw material and the steel is produced using the electric steel process with energy sources with a low CO2 content. This results in a CO2 footprint well below the industry average.
