Although Swiss Steel Group has already significantly reduced CO2 emissions through the use of the electric steelmaking process and low-carbon energy sources, CO2 emissions still occur during the further manufacturing and processing of steel, in what is known as the downstream process, due to the use of natural gas. The aim is to transition from natural gas-fired reheat furnaces to those fueled by green hydrogen.

Metal 3D printing is revolutionizing production by offering flexibility in design, increasing efficiency, and enabling customized solutions. This technology allows for the creation of steel components with complex and precise geometries that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing methods. Additionally, 3D printing enables the production of individual replacement parts for existing equipment and machinery.
