HYDREAMS Project Members & Partners Visit Krefeld
During the event, there was an intensive plant tour with a special focus on the newly completed pilot furnace facility in the Krefeld forging operation and a visit to the special materials section. Participants had the opportunity to see the newly constructed hydrogen storage tanks, each with a capacity of 115 m³, the piping, the gas mixing station, and the pilot Steckofen 1 furnace up close. The furnace was operating on natural gas and was heated to 1,000°C specifically for this event by employees from Bättenhausen in Wetzlar. The production of wear-resistant materials and metal powders for use in additive manufacturing within the project also attracted high interest from the participants.
The following day featured an intensive conference on the status of all work packages of the research project. Numerous presentations by all participants made the day fly by. The project is currently proceeding according to plan and is scheduled to run until the end of 2027.
The next in-person meeting of all partners will take place in May 2025 at Genvia in Beziers, southern France.
